The aim of this retrospective study was to determine the incidence and distribution of IEMs in newborn infants delivered in our hospital and to evaluate its outcome. WebThe inheritance of inborn errors of metabolism is most often autosomal recessive, meaning that two mutant genes are required to produce the signs and symptoms of disease. The parents of an affected child are most often asymptomatic carriers, because 50 percent of normal enzyme activity is adequate to maintain sufficient health.
